Sanctuary Health is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Paediatric Nurse to fill a full time role in Westminster. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of nursing and be registered with the NMC.

The pay rate for this locum Nurse job is £35.00 and is an initial 3 month contract.

Duties:

  • To carry out the Health and Welfare Screening Assessment Tool for young people newly arrived in UK as Unaccompanied Asylum Seeker Children, in partnership with the young person, in their place of intake or care across London
  • To document the assessment within 24-48 hours of the assessment, and forward to the receiving local authority London Asylum Seeker team
  • To work in an agile way to ensure young people can receive assessment in their place of care
  • To provide direct specialist clinical assessment input to Unaccompanied Asylum Seeker Children and consult, liaise with, and assist Local Authorities in their clinical work with these young people
  • To handover the health concerns for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeker Children to the Local Authority with possible requirement to communicate with the LAC Nursing Team
  • To form and maintain collaborative working relationships with Social Services, Education in particular and other relevant agencies, aiming to improve access to healthcare.
  • To promote partnership with relevant health services for improving health outcomes and life chances of Unaccompanied Asylum Seeker Children in Care such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Education, Teenage Pregnancy Strategy, Sexual Health, Dietetics, Dental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Service.
  • To contribute to and promote the achievement of the project outputs, outcomes and evaluation targets as agreed with the Migration Fund, based on the project proposal and agreement in conjunction with LASC.
  • To work with the Named Nurses for Children in Care (LAC) in all London boroughs in line with the statutory Guidance on Promoting the Health and Well being of Looked After Children
  • To ensure that children in care receive equitable services as their counterparts in line with statutory guidance.

Requirements of the Nurse:

  • Degree or equivalent in nursing
  • Current NMC registration
  • Significant NHS experience as a nurse
