Job Title: Substance Misuse Recovery Navigator
Location: South East London region (travel required across probation delivery locations - Croydon/Lambeth/Southwark)

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking dedicated Recovery Navigators to join our client's Dependency and Recovery Services team. This role is pivotal in supporting individuals to break free from cycles of addiction and reoffending, helping them to rebuild their lives.

Role Overview:

As a Recovery Navigator, you will work within a hybrid model as part of a flexible, multi-disciplinary team across various community delivery sites. You will manage a diverse caseload of adult male prison leavers and individuals on community orders, assisting them in implementing their action plans and navigating their recovery journeys. Your responsibilities will include building trust, providing continuous support, and signposting to other services as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive risk and initial assessments.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative action plans.
  • Deliver structured one-on-one sessions, group work, and virtual sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records.
  • Provide support and signposting to enhance access to treatment and services.
  • Work closely with probation and substance misuse services.
  • Participate in key meetings and multi-disciplinary reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with service level agreements and performance targets.
  • Raise and report safeguarding concerns promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and professional service user records.

Service Delivery:

  • Facilitate both one-on-one and group work sessions.
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Support attendance at community appointments.
  • Contribute to the overall smooth running of the service through proactive problem-solving.

Performance Management:

  • Ensure interventions meet required standards.
  • Manage caseloads effectively, prioritising appropriately.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the service by being proactive and solution-focused.

Quality and Safety:

  • Report safeguarding concerns to relevant agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage confidential information within statutory guidelines.
  • Promote compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

Administration:

  • Maintain high standards of case management documentation.
  • Ensure data capture systems are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Complete SMART action plans and assessments.
  • Submit session and end-of-service reports as required.

Systems and Policy:

  • Use IT systems efficiently to support your role.
  • Maintain agreed working protocols with multi-disciplinary agencies.
  • Stay updated with relevant legislation, best practices, and internal communications.

Other Duties:

  • Take on reasonable tasks and responsibilities as assigned by Line Management.
  • Identify training requirements and inform your manager for professional development.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Essential Criteria:

  • Knowledge and experience in the criminal justice sector.
  • Experience in substance misuse or a related field.
  • Ability to manage high caseloads and conduct comprehensive assessments.
  • Proficiency in delivering one-on-one and group interventions.
  • Strong communication skills with diverse populations.
  • Commitment to professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Understanding of equal opportunity principles and GDPR requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 substance misuse-related qualification or relevant experience.
  • Desirable qualifications include advice & guidance, counselling, or PTTLLS.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Personal experience of addiction or imprisonment (with specific clean time or release conditions).
  • Experience providing counselling services to those with health, wellbeing, or substance misuse issues.
  • Knowledge of the 12-step recovery process and the Recovery Agenda.
