Sanctuary Social Care is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to take on a full-time role within a Recruitment and Assessment Team based in Havering. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in children's services and be registered with the Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Social Worker job is £32 per hour (assignment rate) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Main Purpose:

  • The primary Contribute to the delivery of an effective Adoption recruitment and assessment service as part of a social work team, improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • Manage caseloads of prospective adopters at all stages in the assessment process utilising a range of assessment tools and techniques in order to complete a comprehensive Prospective Adopter Report
  • Provide advice and guidance for step-parents and other family members on family adoption processes and alternative orders.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance for social work colleagues on recruitment and assessment processes Work with the communications service to provide high quality targeted adopter recruitment and community engagement events.
  • Work with the Team Manager and Head of Service to develop the service
  • Work from an agreed local base across 5 London Boroughs to family find for and match children across East London
  • Ensure children and young people are adequately protected in line with Havering LSCB and departmental policy and procedures and relevant legislation.

Requirements of the Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within children's services
  • Experience
  • Significant experience (e.g. at least 2 years) of work with children and families, including assessments and statutory work.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary inter-agency basis and ability to negotiate on behalf of customers.
  • Experience of the application of theoretical models and relevant research.
  • Experience of child protection work.
  • Experience of court work.
