Sanctuary Social Care is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to work full-time in Angus, within the Permanence Team. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Social Worker job is £30 - £33 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Duties of the Social Worker:

  • Provide a high quality social work service to children and families where permanence is the identified future care plan, or for whom permanence has been achieved and/ or develop and support an appropriate range of family placement resources to meet the needs of accommodated children and young people who are in need of permanence.
  • Assess, prepare and offer ongoing support to adoptive and permanent foster families and/or be responsible for a specialised permanence caseload of children and families and undertake social work tasks through individual, family or group work models of practice as determined by individual need.
  • Keep records and prepare reports, meeting the requirements of departmental policies.
  • Attend and participate in individual supervision, team meetings, case conferences, Children's Hearings, childcare reviews, Fostering & Adoption Panel, and other working meetings as required and implement agreed decisions.
  • Participate in the provision of an adoption counselling service for adopters, adoptees and other people affected by permanence.
  • Organise programmes of training for adoptive and permanent families.
  • Participate in recruitment processes, including the development of publicity materials, information meetings and public presentations regarding permanence.
  • Demonstrate respect and concern for children, parents and other carers and safeguard their dignity and rights.
  • Ensure that services are non-discriminatory.
  • Form and maintain purposeful links with other agencies and groups in the best interests of children and families.
  • Provide a consultation service to other social workers regarding permanence issues including the availability and suitability of resources for children and young people requiring placement.
  • Participate in and contribute to post-qualifying training.
  • To comply with all data protection law in the processing of personal, and special categories of personal data, in line with the council's full privacy statement and service privacy notices.

Requirements of the Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within Children's Services
