Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency is currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Social Work Team Manager to work based in St Martins, Guernsey, within the Looked After Children Team.

The salary for this permanent Social Work Team Manager role is £65,629 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • To provide effective leadership and supervision to the Looked After Children (LAC) Team and Leaving Care services.
  • To manage the effective provision of social work services provided by the LAC Team and Leaving Care service.
  • Ensure the core functions of the team operate to a good quality and are effective in safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children.
  • To develop and sustain resources whilst maintaining morale, flexibility and quality of service.
  • To provide line management and professional supervision to the Social Care Professionals within the LAC, ensuring effective management of workloads, appropriate allocation of resources and maintenance of standards of performance.
  • Provide guidance to team members on a day to day basis on the management of individual cases and ensure accurate recording and evidence based decision making.
  • To implement ongoing performance and development activities so that practitioners are able to provide a good and improving quality of service both on individual and team basis.
  • To control team budgets and make recommendations for expenditure.
  • Participate in the management of the Out of Hours Social Work Service on a rota with other managers.
  • To be responsible for the organisation, planning and support of the professional activities of team members ensuring that the service objectives are met.
  • Provide a Social Worker Service to all Looked After Children following a decision regarding permanence.
  • Ensure that all statutory duties in respect of Looked After Children and Care Leavers are met in full.
  • Undertake assessments of Looked After Children and Care Leavers and ensuring that Care Plans, Pathway Plans, review documents and other LAC material forms are completed.
  • Work with other agencies to ensure that health, educational and social care needs are properly addressed.

Requirements of the Social Work Team Manager:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work.
  • Current Social Work England registration.
  • Recent post-qualifying experience within frontline social work.
  • Management qualification is desirable.
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • Full driving licence and access to personal vehicle.
