Team/Specialism: Adults Assessment

Pay Rate: £40 per hour (assignment rate)

Contract: Locum, 3-Months

Hours: Full-time

Main Duties:

  • To manage, motivate and develop a team of social workers, social work officers and review officers managers so that performance standards and outcomes are met in ways that demonstrate Haringey Values; Generic Team Manager Responsibilities Service Delivery, Quality and Continuous Improvement
  • Set team priorities, allocate work and be responsible for the delivery of effective and efficient services to service users and stakeholders.
  • Be accountable for implementation of planned and approved service innovations, continuous improvement in quality and efficiency of operations.
  • Review, make recommendations for improvement and follow through to implement changes and benefits.
  • Undertake performance management, quality assurance and act on inadequate performance, as appropriate.
  • Provide advice and support in relation to complex cases. Professional / Technical Expertise
  • Maintain high levels of expertise in area, ensuring that services delivered are consistent with best practice, national and local guidance professional standards and follow agreed policy and practice.
  • Assess, manage, and report risks, identify service gaps and benefits for changes, and resource implications.
  • Offer advice, guidance, and support to staff and colleagues, as appropriate. Safeguarding
  • Ensure that staff have a good understanding and awareness of Haringey Council’s policies and procedures for safeguarding children, vulnerable adults and people affect by domestic violence. Financial Management
  • Be accountable to the Head of Service for the financial management and control of all allocated budgets.
  • Take responsibility for all team facilities, relevant equipment, and resources.
  • Ensure that all services, delivered or procured, represent good value for money. People Management
  • Act as a positive role model for the team by demonstrating Haringey’s values
  • Manage the team and undertake the full range of management responsibilities for the whole employment cycle including recruitment, induction, probation, training/development, and supervision.
  • Motivate the team to achieve performance standards and continuous improvement
  • Hold regular team meetings, and ensure that the team are well informed, included and engaged in Council, Service and Team developments
  • Ensure there is clarity of reasonable standards and expectations in the team and address capability and conduct issues as soon as possible using the formal capability and disciplinary procedures where necessary
  • Develop a positive team spirit within the team and address any issues of concern as early as possible, resolving formal grievances as soon as possible where necessary
  • Manage absence in line with the sickness monitoring procedure and promote wellbeing in the team.

Requirements of the Team Manager:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Recent managerial experience, working as a TM, DTM or ATM etc.
  • Significant frontline experience in Adults Services
