Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company to the private and public sector has a permanent vacancy for a Social Work Clinical Practitioner/Therapist to work part time (12 hours per week) based in Bristol, within the Fostering Team.

The salary for this permanent Clinical Practitioner/Therapist job is up to £36,000 per annum.

Duties:

  • Provide direct support to carers through Reflective Practice work – both individually and in group
  • Developing the Therapeutic Care Plan for the child placed with the carers, and monitoring the carers’ resilience and development – both quantitively and qualitatively
  • Joining with carers to understand the child, make sense of their behaviours, tailor their therapeutic parenting to the child’s needs and support the child to recover from their past traumas and abuse
  • Provide fortnightly individual Reflective Practice sessions to foster carers who are caring for child/ren under the Therapeutic Led Care Service programme
  • Provide fortnightly Group Reflective Practice sessions
  • Guide the carers and the team to develop therapeutic thinking and employ empathic behaviour management strategies – focusing on meeting the young person’s individual needs and stabilising placements
  • Work flexibly with foster carers; which may include working outside of 9-5 on occasions
  • Develop and progress the Therapeutic Care Plan for each child, in conjunction with Blue Sky team
  • Work alongside the Supervising Social Worker to support the foster carers
  • Work with the team on ensuring that children’s care and development needs are met within placements
  • Provide training to foster carers
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with local Commissioning and Social Work Teams which further the agency’s partnership arrangements
  • Undertake research projects to further enhance the practice of clinical practitioners, social work staff and the agency
  • Keep compliance with the National Minimum Standards, Fostering Regulations, Fostering Statutory Guidance and have a good working knowledge of key child care legislation
  • Complete required recording – weekly Reflective Practice notes, Therapeutic Care Plans, TLC Reviews and other compliance documentation as required
  • Promote open and regular communication with all internal and external customers and stakeholders to further the aims, objectives and purpose of the agency
  • Ensure all documentation is completed to the required standard, including paperless recording, IT diary and related TLC paperwork
  • Maintain communication and workload planning systems, ensuring that key information is updated and communicated regularly to the appropriate individuals
  • Undertake regular self-audits of record keeping and report as necessary
  • Report all safeguarding and notifiable events
  • Undertake performance and target reviews with the line manager on a regular basis
  • Contribute to regional development plans
  • Provide regular updates, including outcome monitoring, to the senior management team
  • Work in a flexible way when the occasion arises where tasks are not specifically covered in the Job Description have to be undertaken
  • Undertake training and development deemed necessary for the pursuance of the post, including the Practice Educator programme
  • Ensure that Health and Safety is observed in the course of employment
  • Ensure to comply with Equal Opportunities Policy and Procedure in all employment practices

  • Use of IT using a range of different IT programmes (excel, word, power point)
  • Liaison with range of agencies and professionals
  • Working with different theoretical models
  • Multi-agency working – working within a team of different professionals and disciplines

Requirements of the Clinical Practitioner/Therapist:

  • A qualification in a related field – (e.g. psychotherapy, psychology, , social work with additional therapeutic training, play therapist or other related therapeutic qualification)
  • Relevant registration
  • Experience of working therapeutically with children and families – understanding of childhood trauma, abuse and neglect
  • Understanding of complex developmental trauma and insecure attachment
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive
  • Experience of working with challenging young people in a range of settings
  • Excellent organisational skills, and problem solving
  • Ability and experience in writing therapeutically to complete reports
  • Competent trainer and speaker
  • Awareness of Child Protection issues
  • Confident and flexible
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to travel as required to a range of appointments
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the programme
  • Current driving licence
