Sanctuary Social Care is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Social Worker to work full-time within an Assessment Team based in Stoke-on-Trent The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in children's services and be registered with the Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Senior Social Worker job is £29.93 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Duties:

  • To ensure that the welfare of the child or young person is paramount at all times.
  • To carry out assessments and care manage child care plans within government and departmental prescribed timescales and standards, as required by the Practice / or Principal Manager.
  • To ensure that children, young people and their families are fully involved in the process of assessment and care management.
  • To ensure that service user records are maintained in accordance with Departmental procedures, and that information required for management purposes is recorded and inputted appropriately.
  • To ensure that the department's and authority's resources are deployed efficiently and effectively at all times.
  • To be responsible for the allocation of appropriate tasks to Social Work Assistants, and to provide the necessary support and guidance for the completion of those tasks.
  • Take personal responsibility for continuing professional development including modules of the specialist Post Qualifying Specialist Childcare Award, and for achieving and maintaining the required level of performance for the post.
  • Be responsible for effective time management and responding flexibly to the needs of the service.
  • Provide support and cover for other staff as required by the Practice and / or Principal Manager.
  • Actively participate in the performance management system including supervision, PDR, team meetings, section and divisional briefings and reviews of service.
  • Ensure that departmental health and safety procedures and standards are followed in the performance of all duties.
  • Have Commitment to developing skills through work experience in a range of divisional situations i.e. routine secondments, job rotation and shadowing.
  • Be responsible for contributing to information management processes in the department.
  • Take responsibility under the direction of the Principal or Practice Manager for the support of social work students on placement and act as workplace supervisor or Practice Teacher if appropriately trained.

Requirements of the Senior Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
