Sanctuary Social Care has locum vacancy for a Senior Practitioner to work full-time based in Luton, Bedfordshire within a Looking After Children Team. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in children's services and be registered with the HCPC.

The pay rate for this locum Senior Practitioner role is £34.00 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) and is a 6-month contract.


Duties of the Senior Practitioner:

  • Co-ordinate the multi-agency approach to prevent and address child protection issues and children in need
  • Plan professional intervention using the appropriate available resources ensuring needs are met through negotiation and consultation with professional colleagues and service users. Promote anti discriminatory practice and the empowerment of service users
  • Ensure that the needs of service users are regularly reviewed and changes in circumstances and newly identified needs are addressed. This will necessitate organising and chairing multi agency meetings
  • Keep appropriate case records, statistics and information. Provide case reports and witness statements for Court when required, accountable to the requirements of both internal/external agencies in line with Luton Borough Council Policies and Procedures

Requirements of the Senior Practitioner:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current HCPC registration as a social worker
  • Previous experience of working with Looking After Children preferably in a LAC Team/Child Protection/Court
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and at a fast pace
  • Must be a car driver with access to own transport
