Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Senior Parenting Assessor within the Children in Need Team to work full time based in Harrow.

The salary for this permanent Senior Parenting Assessor job is up to £49,425 per annum.

Main duties:

  • The children in need service is currently seeking a Senior Parenting Assessor to undertake parenting assessments and viability assessments alongside developing the skills, expertise and knowledge of social workers completing court assessments.
  • The primary role will be to complete high quality assessments, but it will also include some management of social workers around specific court and PLO tasks across the service. This will include supervising some social workers on assessments required for court, with the responsibility for ensuring that the reports are completed to a high standard.
  • The senior parenting assessor will also provide consultation, coaching and mentoring within the service.
  • In order to allow for independence in assessments, the post holder will be responsible for undertaking assessments while overall case responsibility will be restrained by the allocated social worker. The post holder will be line managed by the care proceedings case manager who is based within the children in need service.
  • You will join a lively service with staff who are passionate about the work they do to safeguard and support children and young people. Harrow has a string reputation within the court arena and is at the forefront of developing work within PLO pre-proceedings. You will contribute to driving Improvement for some of our most vulnerable children as achieving good outcomes for children is at the heart of all we do. You will be able to support Harrow’s ambition to be an outstanding local authority an build on our strength in children’s social work.
  • Applicants will be able to demonstrate significant experience of writing reports for court incorporating good evidence-informed social work analysis and consistently in meeting court deadlines. The successful applicant will be self-motivated and able to work under pressure. The post holder will have considerable experience in giving oral evidence in court and have a range of knowledge spanning a number of specialised assessment areas including sexual abuse, domestic violence and attachment. The successful applicant will develop specialist areas of experience as required such as PAMS assessments and early permanence.

Requirements of this Senior Parenting Assessor job:

  • A Social Work Degree or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Social Work England registered.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with children in care.
  • Good written and Verbal communication skills.
  • Good timekeeping skills.
