Position: Ophthalmic Nurse/ODP (Theatres & Outpatients)

Salary: £36,000 starting, rising to £37,500 after 12 months of service.

Role summary:

Ophthalmic Nurses/ODPs play an important role in the efficient and safe running of our services.

The role supports both theatres & outpatients across a range of clinics including general, pre- and post-operative assessment as well as playing a key role on the day of theatre by supporting the preparation for patients as well as acting in the circulating role and assisting in the safe transfer and positioning of the patient.

Comprehensive Package:

  • Flight: £800 (initial payment upfront, reclaimable through salary in installments).
  • Airport Transfer: £100.00
  • Welcome Package: £60 (includes groceries, bedding, a kettle, prepaid travel card, and a pay-as-you-go SIM card).
  • Subsidized Accommodation: Deposit: £600 & 2 months’ Rent: £1,200
  • NMC OSCE (first attempt): £794
  • NMC Computer Based Test: £83
  • OSCE Training and Accommodation: £2,099

Clinical Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Up-to-date proficient Scrub skills for high-volume cataract surgery.
  • Undertaking duties as assembling, checking, preparing, and coordinating the use of surgical equipment, and consumables for Ophthalmology procedures.
  • Ability to set up for vitrectomy surgery.
  • Full understanding of Phaco Machines/Instrumentation and set up.
  • Full knowledge of the eye and understanding of Biometry/Lens bank/Implants.
  • Ability to support the surgeon in anticipating any potential problems in theatre.
  • Working as part of a theatre team.
  • To accurately record patient history relevant to the clinic.
  • To perform a comprehensive range of diagnostic procedures and clinical assessments in order to provide the Consultant with the relevant information for diagnosis and treatment.
  • To advise patients on the appropriate care for their eye conditions.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Equivalent in Nursing: Your qualifications are your passport to a rewarding career.
  • Hospital Experience: Prior experience in a healthcare setting ensures you're ready to hit the ground running.
  • IELTS or OET: If applicable, we require proof of your language proficiency.
  • Theatre training /substantive experience required.
  • 3 years or more hospital eye service experience expected.
  • Biometry/Corneal Topography/ OCT/ FFA/ IOP.
  • Intermediate Life Support training.
