Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist to work based in Bristol.

The pay rate for this locum Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist job is £25-£26 per hour (assignment rate) and is a 1-month contract.

Main Duties:

  • Work as a member of a highly skilled team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Engineers, and support staff within Bristol Wheelchair and Special Seating Service.
  • Involved in the assessment and provision of specialist equipment, including buggies and wheelchairs, active user wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, pressure care cushions, postural support equipment, and associated accessories.
  • Supervision of junior staff and students, education and training, and delegated service development activities.
  • Undertake postural, pressure care, and seating assessments using a person-centred approach and analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Delegate tasks to the appropriate support staff, ensuring that they are competent and confident to undertake them and that they are appropriate for their skill level.
  • Give information to patients and carers on equipment choices to enable them to make informed decisions.
  • Complete action plans based on the assessment findings and clinical reasoning, prescribe appropriate specialist equipment using options from a wide range of equipment.
  • Provide education to patients and carers on postural management and pressure care.

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
  • HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.
  • At least two years of post-qualifying experience working as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.
  • Basic knowledge and experience of wheelchairs, pressure relieving cushions and special seating.
  • Experience of working with clients with a range of physical disabilities.
  • Knowledge and experience of medical and surgical conditions including progressive neurological conditions, spinal injury, head injury, and CVA.
  • Working knowledge of NHS services and systems and of multidisciplinary working and the roles of other professionals and services.
  • Basic computer, keyboard, and IT skills, knowledge of working within patient databases.
  • Full driving licence and access to personal vehicle.
