Sanctuary Personnel, a leading and award-winning recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work in Wandsworth on a full-time basis, within the Early Intervention Service.

The pay rate for this locum Occupational Therapist job is £34.51 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Duties:

  • Care to coordinate a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions
  • Provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal
  • Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of OT services within the Community Team, holding responsibility for defined projects
  • Offer OT intervention for the team caseload, being responsible for completing standardised assessments/manualised interventions as agreed by senior professional lead
  • Contribute to the development of the OT specific role in the service
  • Regularly supervise OT students on practice placement
  • Contribute to streamline working from admission to discharge in keeping with the principles in the Adult Services Recovery Care pathway
  • Promote recovery and social inclusion
  • Act as the designated 'Disability Champion' leading the multi-disciplinary team in Disability Equality matters within the service and other areas as required
  • Work across Wandsworth borough providing time limited Occupational Therapy specific interventions, inputting into the OT Service and managing a clinical caseload; the role of care coordinator will be required but caseload will be adjusted to enable OT specific assessments and interventions to take place
  • Represent and promote the Occupational Therapy Service within the management and governance structures of Mental Health Services
  • Apply a high level of understanding of the effects of disability on occupational performance and provide training and advice on lifestyles changes and adaptations to the client's social and physical environment
  • Promote and signpost individuals/carers towards the Recovery College and embed recovery into all interventions
  • Maintain effective communication networks with users and carers, team members, occupational therapy colleagues and other agencies
  • Promote awareness of the role of occupational therapy within the team, with service users & carers; negotiating priorities where appropriate
  • Ensure that up to date written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with Professional and Trust standards
  • Ensure service users have access to care plans in line with local policies
  • Comply with the COT Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and national and Trust procedures
  • Review and reflect on your own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and  development reviews
  • Provide effective guidance, supervision and development review for junior staff

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist
  • Recent NHS experience either pre or post qualification
  • Demonstrate continuing fitness to practice through maintaining registration with HCPC and compliance with their standards
