Duties of the Occupational Therapist:

  • To undertake Occupational Therapy assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance needs and skills deficits using standardised and non-standardised assessment tools as appropriate
  • To prioritise referrals applying effective clinical reasoning in line with team / service standards
  • To work with the client to identify Occupational Therapy goals as part of the overall care plan
  • To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions with the client using graded activity to achieve identified goals
  • To undertake home and environmental visits and any necessary follow up visits as part of discharge planning
  • To assess for, recommend and order equipment and adaptations necessary for safe community living
  • To refer onto other disciplines or agencies and delegate work to support staff where appropriate

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
  • Recent UK experience working as an Occupational Therapist
  • Recent NHS experience
  • Registered with the HCPC
