Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Independent Reviewing Officer within the Quality Assurance Team to work full time based in Surrey.

The salary for this permanent Independent Reviewing Officer job is up to £54,735 per annum

Main duties:

  • To provide consistent standards in the chairing of child protection conferences, the chairing of statutory child care reviews and complex strategy meetings.
  • To develop effective liaison with Children’s Social Work Teams.
  • To promote the participation of children and their family in care planning and service development.
  • To develop consistency of practice and interpretation in the implementation of child care and safeguarding procedures.
  • To provide specialised professional support and advice to departmental staff and other agencies in work relating to safeguarding children, children looked after and children in need.
  • Support the continual development of children’s social care services by actively contributing to quality assurance activity and the implementation of new statutory requirments and guidance, as well as sharing learning from evidence-based practice and reviews in relation to child protection issues.
  • Act as consultant to members of staff on safeguarding procedures, policies and practice in relation to Looked after Children and safeguarding children.
  • To act as a point of liaison in relation to other agencies to ensure that a multi-disciplinary approach is maintained in respect of children’s welfare involved un the looked after children and safeguarding children.
  • Convene conferences held under safeguarding children and looked after children procedures as directed by the Team Manager.
  • Chair, and manage conferences looked after reviews and strategy meetings held under safeguarding, and looked after children procedures as directed by the Team Manager.
  • To ensure good practice arises from conferences and reviews in respect of child care planning.
  • Liaise with other agencies as necessary to facilitate the development of standards and practice in work relating to child care planning and safeguarding.
  • Assist the Team Manager (SCS) in identifying trends in safeguarding children, and looked after children in Bexley. To identify service strengths and weaknesses contribute to the Service Improvement Plan.
  • To ensure compliance with statutory obligations towards looked after children, safeguarding children and children in need arising from regulations and guidance.

Requirements of this Independent Reviewing Officer job:

  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Continual professional development.
  • Social Work England registered.
