Duties:

  • Complete Educational Psychology assessments arising either from new Education, Health and Care need assessments or from Education Health and Care Plan Reviews
  • Undertake a range of assessment activity to complete Educational Psychology advice that meet with the local authority quality assurance standards
  • Secure appropriate supervision if needed from an EP who is regulated by the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC)
  • Adhere to HCPC guidelines, data protection and safeguarding policies
  • Inform a senior Educational Psychologist of any potential conflict of interests

Requirements for the Independent Educational Psychologist:

  • Psychologists must be registered and accredited members of the BACP (Registered Member MBACP (Accred) or Registered Member MBACP (Snr Accred))
  • HCPC registration
  • Be able to work independently, to achieve outcomes for children and families
  • Have a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people within education settings
  • Have a passion for promoting mental health and wellbeing
  • Be able to work with a focus on delivering services to children, families and settings, acting with integrity and respect on behalf of the organisation and honouring confidentiality
  • Support equality and diversity and respects customers, clients and other members of staff regardless of gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion or ethnic origin
  • Experience of applying psychology with children and young people
  • Substantial relevant experience working with children in education or children’s services or both
  • Successfully followed a course of specific post graduate professional training as an educational psychologist
  • Recent successful training or experience as an educational psychologist
  • Teaching or other experience in more than one sector of education or work with children and young people
  • Knowledge of applying Psychology in practice
  • Awareness of the opportunities and challenges in the current professional context
