Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for an Independent Chair within the Safeguarding Team to work full time based in Milton Keynes.

The salary for this permanent Independent Chair job is up to £60,893 per annum.

Main duties:

  • The Independent Chair (IC) acts on behalf of the council to establish, manage and implement child protection and looked after children processes, to ensure that all children in Milton Keynes are safeguarded, supported by robust evidence-based decision making and planning.
  • The IC operates a professional consultation service, providing advice and information to staff within MKCC, partner agencies and external organisations regarding child protection and looked after children processes and other specialist aspects of the child protection process.
  • The IC models and promotes partnership with key agencies, ensuring collaboration, information sharing and integrated planning for the benefit of the children. The IC will ensure that the child’s voice is heard, the children and family are appropriately participant in the child protection and looked after children process resulting in the children being able to achieve good outcomes.
  • The IC will chair complex meetings, analyse, summarise and write/record relevant information clearly and concisely so that users and colleagues can easily understand it.
  • Robust quality assurance and scrutiny systems are in place and reported within Children Social Care, which demonstrably make a difference to professional practice and outcomes for children and families in Milton Keynes.
  • The IC will lead and contribute to activities requiring expert knowledge and specialist skills such as training and development, policies and procedures, projects and other tasks relating to child protection and children in care, on behalf of Children Social Care and partner agencies.
  • Will provide routine cover for the LADO as part of the duty system.

Requirements of this Independent Chair role:

  • A professional Social Work qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Registered or eligible for registration.
