Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for an Experienced Supervising Social Worker within the Fostering Team to work full time for Brighter Futures for Children based in Reading.

The salary for this permanent Experienced Supervising Social Worker job is up to £47,493 per annum.

Main duties:

  • To actively participate in the recruitment, assessment and training of prospective foster carers as well as pursuing suitable placements for BFFCs approved foster carers.
  • Support the continued development of Foster Carers.
  • To provide and deliver professional support and supervision BFFCs foster carers whilst promoting the safe care and development of looked after children/young people in order for the children to achieve their full potential in terms of their physical, social, emotional and educational needs.
  • To develop and maintain positive working relationships with children, their families and other professionals.
  • To keep up to date with contemporary issues in children’s social work including legislation, evidence-based practice and to attend relevant training and develop opportunities.
  • To actively liaise with colleagues, children’s social work teams and external agencies in order to gather information relevant to jointly plan and deliver interventions.
  • Maintain and update case notes and other records in line with practice standards and fostering regulations, write reports as required, if required, give evidence in court in relation to care proceedings.
  • To work in a manner that is consistent with and upholds BFFCs Equal Opportunities & Diversity Policies.
  • Undertake a range of assessments as required.

  • Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and co-operate with management, so far is necessary, to enable compliance with the company’s health and safety rules and legislative requirements.

Requirements of this role:

  • Social work qualification with registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience in managing social work caseloads and supervising others.
  • Experience of community and/or group work.
  • Knowledge of children’s health and social care systems, agencies, and relevant legislation.
