Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking applications for the role of a Dietitian for a permanent full-time position in Dublin.

Reporting to the Clinical Director, the successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team at an esteemed healthcare facility, which focuses on providing neuropsychiatric services to adults with various mental health needs, including conditions such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's Diseases, among others. The facility also offers specialist palliative care services.

Key Responsibilities:

Professional/Clinical

  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of nutrition and dietetic services, ensuring evidence-based practices.
  • Provide clinical nutrition and dietetic services in accordance with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with catering staff in menu development and specialised therapeutic diets.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, including audit, research, and evaluation.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated client care.
  • Provide leadership and support to colleagues through supervision, mentoring, and tutoring.
  • Represent the nutrition and dietetic service in various meetings and committees.

Quality & Risk, Health & Safety Management

  • Comply with and contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and safe professional practices.
  • Adhere to relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement projects to enhance service delivery.
  • Prioritize safety by working attentively and ensuring the safety of oneself and others.
  • Identify and address risk management issues promptly.
  • Report adverse incidents or near misses promptly.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies regarding equipment procurement, care, and safety.
  • Maintain a good understanding and working knowledge of Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards applicable to the role.
  • Comply with associated HSE protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards.

Education & Training

  • Maintain current knowledge of scientific research and best practices through continuous professional development and mandatory training programs.
  • Keep colleagues informed about developments in specialized areas.
  • Attend relevant conferences, meetings, and join professional societies to enhance expertise.
  • Contribute to the education and training of fellow dietitians, healthcare professionals, and service user groups.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of nutrition education materials.
  • Take a leading role in the practical education of student dietitians.
  • Participate in mandatory training programs.
  • Engage in career and personal development planning and performance reviews with the Clinical Director.
  • Provide induction and mentorship to new professional colleagues.

Administrative

  • Provide line management supervision to assigned Staff Grade Dietitians/ appropriate others
  • Coordinate service delivery
  • Contribute to policy and guideline development
  • Monitor performance and business planning
  • Manage budgetary control as advised by the Dietitian Manager
  • Utilise audit and quality improvement methods for enhanced care
  • Prepare and maintain service user records, reports, and statistics
  • Ensure compliance with local and national guidelines
  • Develop and oversee information sharing protocols
  • Establish audit systems and referral pathways
  • Maintain patient and data confidentiality
  • Represent the department at meetings, committees, and conferences

Requirements:

  • Registration as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification dietetic experience.
  • Familiarity with HSE Food Nutrition and Hydration policies for adult patients.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to evaluate information, problem-solve, and make effective decisions.
  • Understanding of healthcare service structures and frameworks in Ireland.
