Sanctuary Health has a permanent vacancy for an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Stroke Physiotherapist to work either full-time or part-time based in Isle of Sheppey. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Physiotherapy and be registered with the HCPC.

The salary for this permanent Physiotherapist job is £30,401 to £37,267 per annum.

Job Purpose:

  • To work as an autonomous practitioner within a multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist assessment and treatment of patients who have had a Stroke.
  • To empower patients to remain central to the decision making regarding their own care and encourage self-management as appropriate.
  • To support and supervise junior staff within the Stroke Team.
  • To work in partnership with other health and social care professionals, providing specialist advice and joined up care.
  • To provide ongoing support, clinical supervision and appraisal to less senior staff.
  • To demonstrate leadership skills and contribute to the day to day co-ordination of the overall caseload, deputising for more senior staff and assist with service development as appropriate.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of clinical risk within own patient caseload.
  • To be clinically responsible for patients accepted on to the caseload and to organise this with regards to clinical priorities, evidence based practice, ensuring the most efficient use of skills time and resources.
  • To undertake assessment of patients who have had a stroke including those with complex presentations. To use sound clinical reasoning skills to agree therapeutic goals, implementation of a specialist therapy programme, evaluation of outcome measures and appropriate discharge planning.
  • To use sound clinical reasoning skills and broad specialist knowledge of treatment expertise and evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes as required.
  • To recognise the need for, and utilise encouragement, motivation, negotiation and reassurance skills to facilitate rehabilitation and support the patient towards self-management.

Requirements of the Physiotherapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered as a Physiotherapist
  • Recent post qualifying experience working as a Physiotherapist
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in portfolio including attendance at recent master's level postgraduate courses relevant to clinical specialised field.
  • Evidence of post graduate training in the management of neurological conditions
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Must be a car driver
