We have an exciting locum opportunity for a Band 6 Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with UK experience to join our team.

Banding/Grade: Band 6

Pay rate (Assignment rate): £41 per hour

Contract Length: 3-Months

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week

Duties:

  • Be responsible for managing a caseload of patients with heart failure, both newly diagnosed and following discharge from hospital

  • Liaise with other members of the heart failure management team in primary and secondary care to deliver evidence-based care to patients with heart failure

  • Co-ordinate an education programme for community health professionals and will also be a resource for advice

  • Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and in partnership with other services to provide seamless care

  • Work as part of the team and contribute to its success by being an effective role model and supervising other staff i.e. nurses, healthcare assistants/support workers and students to ensure they are working to the standards that the people using our services deserve

Requirements for the ODP role:

  • Degree or equivalent in Nursing (RGN qualified) with active NMC Registration (Adult)

  • Hold relevant post registration course

  • Be able to prescribe and review medication as a non-medical prescriber or under Patient Group directives

  • Ability to manage and support the department in a critical incident

  • Post Graduate degree or specialist cardiac qualification e.g. ENB 254, 129, 249 or equivalent

  • V300 Non-medical prescriber or willing to undertake course

  • Caledonian Heart Failure qualification or willingness to undertake this within 12 months of commencing the post

  • Advanced Physical Assessment qualification or willingness to undertake course (Level 7)

  • Community qualification

  • Willing to work towards Masters Mentorship

  • Proven Experience of: working as a heart failure specialist nurse/cardiovascular disease management/cardiac care at grade 6/7/conducting clinical audits/teaching formally and informally/presentation skills

  • Palliative care experience

  • Car Driver/Cyclist

  • Full clean driving licence
