Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) within the AMHP Team to work full time based in Swindon.

The salary for this permanent AMHP job is up to £51,725 per annum.

Main duties:

  • To demonstrate understanding of the Council’s Customer Care Standards and ensure that these standards are met in order to deliver the Council vision of putting residents first.
  • To provide supervision for trainees or staff, other than social workers when required to do so.
  • No direct supervisory responsibility however may be required to assist in induction and training of peers and new employees.
  • Required to supervise Social Work trainees or non social work staff and AMHP trainees.
  • Working with either the Older People’s Service or the adult mental health team, he/she will, with supervision and advice, care coordinate/care mange a caseload of service users within the Care Programme Approach policy or Lead Professional Care and practice guidelines.
  • They will undertake the tasks of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of action or treatment, negotiating for and co-ordinating the application of resources and seeking modification of attitudes or behaviour when required.
  • The caseload will include the most vulnerable service users or those with the most complex problems and he/she may be expected to accept responsibility for action in relation to the safety of service users, their carers or others in emergency situations.
  • Undertake tasks of assessment, planning, implementation of action or treatment, negotiating for and co-ordinating the application of resources and seeking modification of attitudes of behaviour when required.
  • To accept referrals from the Team Leader or any person delegated to act on his/her behalf.
  • To interview service users and other relevant persons in the office, their homes or any other suitable venue, e.g. hospital, schools, police stations etc. To participate in the duty system within the team.
  • Assess the nature of the problem, identify relevant objectives to resolve or ameliorate the problems, take action to achieve these objectives and review the results and amend objectives as necessary.
  • Be prepared to employ whatever social work method or techniques appear relevant to the needs of the situation and are within the bound of their competence,
  • Maintain knowledge of the current Team Plans and understanding of own contribution in order to ensure delivery of this plan.

Requirements of this AMHP job:

  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Continual professional development.
  • Social Work England registered.
