Sanctuary Social Care has locum vacancy for an Advanced Practitioner to work full-time based in Wigan in a Locality Team. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Advanced Practitioner role is £32 to £37 per hour (Assignment rate).

Duties of the Advanced Practitioner:

  • Through the delivery of high-quality practice, you will ensure the right support and interventions are in place for children and their families and that children are protected from significant harm
  • Work in a busy and friendly team predominantly with children in need, child protection pre-proceedings and undertaking both care proceeding and private law applications. On a longer-term basis, you will work with children, young people and their families providing help and support to make effective change
  • Manage a complex case load delivering a high quality and effective social work service to facilitate, empower and promote independence, strengths and assets of both individuals and local communities
  • Support the team manager to ensure performance and practice within the team is driven at a high level and where effective outcomes are being achieved for all children and their families
  • Supervise and support the newly qualified social workers within the team and will work closely alongside the other Advance Practitioner within the team

Requirements of the Advanced Practitioner:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within children's services
  • Significant experience of operating in a social work capacity. You will have experience of undertaking court work and supporting children and families to make effective change
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of legislation, statutory guidance and regulations relating to children in need of support or protection
  • Experience of supporting staff and ensuring effective care planning is being achieved
  • As well as having highly developed interpersonal and caring skills, you will have a strong, resilient nature with the capacity to recover quickly from difficult situations
  • You will be a strong team player who is used to working in a person-centred way, allowing you to be efficient in time management, report writing, completing assessments and providing both written and verbal evidence in care proceedings
  • You will have a holistic approach to work, with a keen focus on reducing inequalities and supporting individuals to develop their resilience and improve outcomes
