Useful resources for radiographers

By Dan Allard

Continuing professional development (CPD) can open new doors in your radiography career, as well as ensuring you keep your skills and knowledge up-to-date. We've put together a list of websites where you can find valuable resources to support you in your radiography practice.

Society of Radiographers (SoR)

The Society provides members with a range of resources to support their radiography learning and CPD. Online CPD resources include video tutorials and downloadable planning workbooks. The SoR website also features signposting for recommended short courses and study days, with a keyword search facility. SoR members get free online access to a number of publications, including Radiography journal and Imaging and Therapy Practice, which provides in-depth coverage of the latest professional and educational issues that affect those working in diagnostic and therapeutic radiography jobs.

Health Education England (HEE) e-learning hub

HEE's e-learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) site provides access to a wide choice of resources for those working in radiography roles, including courses, factsheets, learning paths and case studies. The Resources for Diagnostic Radiographers course contains e-learning sessions and journals to support radiographers working with patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. e-LfH e-learning is free to all relevant healthcare professionals working in the NHS.

British Association of MRI Radiographers (BAMRR)

The resources section of the BAMRR website has lots of information on a wide range of topics relating to MRI radiography jobs, including a regular newsletter, MRI scanning protocols, MRI physics and practice guidance relating to COVID-19. You must be a member of BAMRR to access most of these resources. Members also benefit from reduced rates for courses and attendance at the annual conference.

Sanctuary Health Careers Hub

Sanctuary Health is a leading healthcare recruiter in the UK and is home to thousands of jobs. The careers hub is a central resource for people at every stage of their healthcare career. With downloadable guides offering advice around CV-writing, interview preparation and starting out in the profession as a newly qualified professional, there is lots of content to help you take the next steps.

Radiography journal

Radiography is the official, peer-reviewed journal of the Society and College of Radiographers and the European Federation of Radiographer Societies. Aimed at radiography practitioners, researchers, educators and students, the journal features research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, editorials and letters, all of which promote learning and encourage innovation in radiography.

eIntegrity healthcare e-learning

eIntegrity provides easy online access to healthcare training developed for the NHS, including two courses that are specifically relevant to radiographers. 'Image Interpretation' equips learners with the skills to interpret radiological images correctly, covering a wide range of imaging modalities and specialities, including radiography, ultrasound, breast, cardiac and cross-sectional imaging. 'Radiotherap-e' deals with the knowledge and skills needed to implement advanced radiotherapy techniques safely and efficiently. It's suitable for fully qualified radiographers, as well as clinical oncologists and physicists. Both courses were developed in collaboration with SoR and are endorsed for continuing professional development by the College of Radiographers.
