Case Study: Priory Group

By Gemma Raw

“Sanctuary Personnel are a PSL supplier to the Priory Group. Since their inclusion, Sanctuary has assisted in the supply of over 16,000 hours to our services. I have requested support on multiple occasions for services that have required short notice and Sanctuary has always diligently assisted where they can. Often, they’ll go above and beyond to ensure our needs are met. Their customer interaction and service are of a high quality. I have no hesitation in recommending Sanctuary. I am sure that they would only be a benefit to other businesses.” - Daniel Ashenden, Agency Manager, Priory Group

Sanctuary Health has been supporting Priory Group as a preferred supplier since February 2018. Within the first 15-month, Sanctuary supplied the Group with 80 highly qualified multi-disciplinary health and social care candidates. Having overcome many resourcing challenges for the Group, Sanctuary has since been awarded a place on the Group’s national permanent PSL.

The Challenge

The Priory Group in Bristol approached Sanctuary Health at the end of 2017. It was struggling to find a solution to the geographic challenges in recruiting of health and social care professionals. Being rural, it was proving particularly difficult to attract experienced mental health nurses and mental health support workers. And with many of the teams being multi-disciplinary, they needed an agency that could quickly mobilise social workers, as well as psychologists and occupational therapists.

The Solution

Having already benefitted from Sanctuary Health’s support at a previous employer, the Clinical Director, knew Sanctuary would be able to assist. With a nationwide community of mental health professionals, Priory Group, tapped into an established talent pool.

Initially, Sanctuary Health was tasked with recruiting candidates for a small number of sites. We quickly filled vacancies that had previously been difficult to fill.

Just four months later, Sanctuary was awarded a place on the local Priory Group PSL following the Group’s procurement exercise. Our national coverage, specialist mental health recruitment services and safe recruitment practices, stood us in a strong position.

Within the first 15 months of supplying candidates to the Bristol Priory Group we placed 80 candidates, including:

  • Mental Health Nurses (RMNs)

  • Learning Disability Nurses (RNLDs)

  • General Nurses (RGNs)

  • Healthcare Assistants (HCAs)

  • Occupational Therapists (OTs)

  • Social Workers

  • Psychologists

We met with each hiring manager to fully understand their resourcing needs. This made it easier to quickly identify suitable candidates.

Although the Priory Group is privately run, it still benefits from our stringent compliance and safe recruitment processes - the same checks we apply in accordance with NHS frameworks. This means, the Group can be safe in the knowledge that each candidate that walks through their doors is fully compliant.

We’re proud to say, our commitment to finding location and profession-specific resourcing solutions has seen us added to the Group’s national permanent PSL.
