Sanctuary Social Care is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Youth Offending Service Manager to work full-time based in Lambeth. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Social Work practice in Children's Services and be registered with the HCPC.

The pay rate for this locum Youth Offending Service Manager job is £45 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) is an initial 3-month contract.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prevent offending and re-offending by children and young people through the provision of effective services as required by the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008, Legal Aid, Sentencing & Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (LASPO) and related legislation and guidance.
  • To be responsible for the day to day operational management of the multi-agency Youth Offending Service in accordance with Council policies, procedures and national service standards.
  • To advise the Programme Director (SMG) and inform senior management of serious incidents and to take an active role in the management of risk.
  • To assist the Head of Service, with the development and delivery of the Youth Justice and YOS Improvement Plans in partnership with other agencies.
  • To lead on a number of thematic areas within the multi-agency YOS providing specialist knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas in order to prevent offending by young people: Services to the Youth Court and Crown Court, Out of Court disposals and Triage.
  • End to end Youth Justice Management ranging from early intervention right through to Resettlement.
  • To be one of a team of Operational Leads on reducing the use of custody, Reducing the number of First Time Entrants into the Criminal Justice System and contribute to the implementation and development of interventions and programmes which seek to reduce the proven rate of re-offending.
  • Contribute and write strategic reports that monitor the YOS' use of Remand and custody.
  • Contribute and write strategic reports that monitor the YOS' use of Remand and custody. Contribute and write strategic reports that document the YOS' compliance to local policies and procedures developed by the Local Authority.
  • Contribute and write strategic reports that document the YOS' compliance to national and regional policies and procedures developed by the YJB, Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime or any other relevant body.
  • To undertake regular case auditing and dip sampling functions within both the YOS Case Management services as well as the activity of the YOS wider partnership contributions.
  • To develop, hold to account and implement a variety of strategies and responses that promote the development and accountability of the YOS Team Manager.
  • To provide line management functions to YOS Team Managers and other personnel from the wider YOS Partnership.
  • To represent the service at internal and external boards and fora.

Requirements of the Youth Offending Service Manager:

  • Degree or equivalent in Social Work
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Significant frontline experience within Children's Services
  • Experience within YOS
