Band 2 – COVID 19 Vaccination Site Steward

Your NHS needs you! Here’s your opportunity to put your organisation and people skills to good use. As a Band 2 COVID 19 Vaccination Site Steward, you will help protect thousands of people in Dudley against coronavirus and relieve the pressure on the NHS.

As the NHS commits to vaccinating thousands of local people, it will be your role to support with the logistics, directing people and helping to manage queues.

You will join a caring and compassionate team of likeminded qualified and unqualified staff all committed to protecting lives and saving the NHS.

In your Vaccination Site Steward role, you will be responsible for patient check-in and vaccination pod allocation.

This means, you will be expected to:

  • Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service.

  • Verify booking confirmation and allocate an individual vaccination number and pod using technology provided.

  • Maintain an efficient flow of allocations.

  • Be aware of any complex scenarios (different vaccine allocation, risk of adverse reaction guidance) and escalate accordingly.

  • Brief people with relevant information materials (e.g. leaflets) and offer brief explanation of the expected steps.

  • Manage arrival exceptions and support people that are turned away, without disrupting overall throughput.

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure strict data and patient record confidentiality.

  • Maintain an efficient and accurate centralised filing system.

  • Collect, collate, and report routine data and information.

  • Order supplies, equipment and leaflets as required.

Requirements as a Vaccination Site Steward:

  • Previous relevant clerical experience

  • Good standard of basic education

  • Customer service training (desirable)

  • Strong time management and people skills

  • Clear, legible handwriting

The vaccination PODs will be open from 8am until 8pm seven days a week and so you will be expected to work 12 hour shifts of 07:45am – 20:15pm. Payments for these will be in alignment with the NHS England and NHS Improvement cap.
