Sanctuary Health has a permanent job vacancy for an experienced and dedicated Theatre Practitioner specialising in Anaesthetic/Scrub/Recovery/First Assistant to work full-time in Wimbledon. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of nursing and be registered with the NMC.

The salary for this permanent Theatre Practitioner role is £34,000 - £40,000 per annum.

Job Purpose:

  • Provide quality planned care for patients during their peri-operative phase of care.

  • Support and assist in the management and organisation of care provision within the Operating Department.

  • Provide surgical assistance as required only when in possession of an Advanced Scrub Practitioner qualification. Theatre staff holding this qualification will be covered for vicarious liability by the Company when assisting the surgeon.

Main Duties:

  • Assemble, check and prepare the appropriate anaesthetic, surgical and recovery equipment, drugs and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures incorporating various types of anaesthesia. To ensure the safe care of the patient during their peri-operative phase of care.

  • The ability to co-ordinate the use of the supplies and equipment during the operating list and during the immediate post-operative phase of care ensuring the equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner.

  • Conduct mandatory patient checks including informed consent, patient's identity and operative site against the supporting documentation, prior to the start of the anaesthetic and prior to the start of the procedure.

  • Complete mandatory surgical checks prior to the start of the procedure, during and pre wound closure.

  • Assist the Anaesthetist throughout the peri-operative phase of care and during the immediate post-operative phase of care as required.

Requirements of the Theatre Practitioner:

  • NMC Registered Nurse (RMN or RGN)

  • A degree or equivalent within nursing

  • UK Nursing experience

  • Orthopaedic theatre experience

  • Skilled in more than one area i.e. Endoscopy, scrub, recovery , anaesthetics, 1ST assisting
