What you will do:
- Provide direction, support, and supervision to a team of social workers, ensuring effective case management.
- Maintain high professional standards, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices.
- Promote a positive team culture focused on learning, professional development, and accountability.
- Oversee complex safeguarding cases, ensuring timely interventions and robust risk assessments.
- Chair strategy discussions, case conferences, and multi-agency meetings as required.
- Ensure the voice of the child is central to all safeguarding decisions and planning.
- Monitor team performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies, ensuring effective information sharing and joint working.
- Keep up to date with legislation, policies, and best practices to maintain high-quality service delivery.
- Ensure the effective allocation of cases, managing workloads efficiently.
- Support social workers in complex decision-making, offering expert guidance and oversight.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of casework on the relevant systems.
Essential Criteria:
Social Work England (SWE) registration. Extensive post-qualification experience in children’s social care. Strong background in safeguarding and child protection. Previous experience in a leadership or management role within a local authority. Excellent understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989/2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children. Proven ability to manage and develop teams, ensuring high performance.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience in a local authority safeguarding team. Postgraduate qualifications in social work or management.
