Sanctuary Social Care currently has a permanent vacancy based in Maidenhead for a Team Manager to work in PODS. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Social Work Practice in Children's Services and be registered with the HCPC.

As the post holder of this role, you will receive a competitive salary of £49,541 - £57,380 per annum.

Main purpose of the job:

  • To contribute, on behalf of the wider management team, to the operational and where appropriate strategic management of the organisation with the wider leadership team, organisational employees, external partners (including housing, schools, colleges, health, police, probation, voluntary and private sector), and children, young people and families, so as to ensure that the organisation and council's key commitments and statutory responsibilities are fulfilled and the Strategic Director of Children's Services' objectives are realised.
  • To ensure the provision of high quality services that secure lifelong positive outcomes for the children, young people and families in the Borough.

Main Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Contribute to the leadership of the organisation in a manner that builds ownership and commitment, promotes strong performance, connects strategies to action, provides clear accountability and delivers results and uses evidence based practice to transform services.
  • Actively pursue the engagement of children, young people and families in service design, delivery and evaluation, and ensure services are children, young people and family-focused.
  • Develop and implement strategies that support the quality of the service and secure significant and sustained improvements for children, young people and families.
  • Provide leadership and management of the team, in collaboration with all relevant parties, so as to ensure the organisation and council's vision, objectives and annual priorities are realised.
  • Provide an effective, cost-efficient service to children, young people and their families ensuring that the needs of and risks to children are professionally assessed to a high standard and in accordance with statutory timescales.
  • Prioritise workload demands and ensure the allocation of work.
  • Provide or ensure high quality professional supervision to staff in the Children in Need and Child in Care pods.
  • Identify individual and pod training needs and plan accordingly through the provision of supervision, appraisal, training and development plans.
  • Monitor standards/performance of ongoing work, ensuring that all children/young people are safeguarded.
  • Chair meetings eg Child in Need meetings; Team Around the Child meetings; Strategy Meetings; Permanency Planning Meetings; Core Group meetings, PLO meetings and legal planning meetings etc as required.
  • Contribute to the management of the budget and expenditure of the pods, providing information, exercising specified delegated authority to commit expenditure and monitoring and reporting those commitments arising from the pods' activities.
  • Performance manage all aspects of the team's services using performance data to assist with this task.
  • To maintain accurate electronic records and to report on key performance management data.

Requirements of the Team Manager:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within children's services
