Sanctuary Personnel, an award-winning and renowned Recruitment Agency is looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 5 Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to work based in Aldershot.

The pay rate for this locum Recovery Worker job is £16 - £18 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 1-month contract.

Duties:

  • Provision of drug & alcohol treatment to Service Users within the locality
  • Holding a caseload of service users and being responsible for offering a range of interventions to those individuals
  • Supporting service users through their treatment journey from beginning to end
  • Embracing the concept of recovery and demonstrating this in your clinical work
  • Ensuring that your work is evidence based, up to date and in accordance with current policy and legislation
  • Keeping up to date and accurate records and documentation
  • Provide a dedicated comprehensive Tier 2/3 service to people with drug use problems their families and friends within the organisational framework of the Inclusion Recovery Hampshire
  • Accept referrals, assess need and make appropriate recommendations as part as a robust ‘duty system
  • Provide harm reduction advice, information and support with an emphasis on safer drug use, safer sex, HIV, Hepatitis A,B and C and other blood borne infections
  • Be responsible for maintaining a full case load of complex clients as the key worker
  • Make home visits consistent with need
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments, construct care packages with multi disciplinary colleagues where required, review care plans in a structured format and manage onward referral
  • Assist and support medical and nurse prescribers during harm reduction and prescribing clinics
  • Provide a range of structured psycho-social interventions including CBT based brief solution focused therapy and motivational enhancement techniques
  • Make domiciliary visits to service users particularly for those with disabilities and to those with family responsibilities
  • Retain contact with service users whilst they are accommodated in residential rehabilitation units including visits when required
  • Create and facilitate group work interventions
  • Provide a needle exchange service
  • Work with a range of professional in ensuring service users’ needs in terms of safeguarding and mental health are met
  • Carry out needle exchanges, home visits and the running of clinics
  • Encourage and work with service users to move forward in their recovery
  • Encourage and work intensively with service users to support them move away from maintenance treatment where appropriate
  • Develop and sustain links with multi-disciplinary services including statutory and non statutory providers of Tier 2,3,4 drug services, criminal justice services and providers of wrap around services
  • Develop a network of contacts with relevant agencies to promote service accessibility for the client group
  • Attend relevant meeting to represent Inclusion and the team when required
  • Keep up to date records and information for the purpose of internal and external evaluation
  • Provide information and statistics consistent with the Drug Action Team (DAT) and Inclusion’s requirements
  • Prepare and present reports when required to do so

Requirements of the Recovery Worker:

  • Relevant training / Qualification in associated field
  • Previous substance misuse experience
  • Demonstrable commitment to service user involvement
  • Demonstrate an understanding of a patients physical health needs and be able to carry out blood pressure checks, infections control checks and ensure the service is in line with COSHH standards
  • Demonstrate commitment to evidenced based practice and keep up to date with trends and changes in the drug field
  • Be prepared to work some evenings and weekend

  • Hold a full driving license and be prepared to travel to various locations consistent with service and client needs
  • Be aware of boundaries at all times

  • Foundation Degree / HNC in related field which may include counselling, social work, nursing, psychology, human resources, social studies or equivalent experience
  • Considerable experience of working with drug users
  • A commitment to and understanding of harm reduction & recovery approaches to working with drug users
  • Knowledge of blood borne viruses and sexual health
  • A sound knowledge of drugs and their effects
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to promote service user involvement
  • Counselling skills, case management experience & the ability to work under pressure
  • Experience of developing and delivering group work
  • Willingness to contribute toward Training & mentoring
  • Good presentation skills both written and oral including the ability to produce & present reports
  • A sound experience of working with techniques such as CBT, Motivational interviewing and Solution focused therapy
  • A thorough knowledge of substances and their effects
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of criminal justice field
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Understanding of equal opportunities
