Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a job based in London for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker.

The pay rate for this locum Recovery Worker job is £16 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Duties:

  • Act as main care coordinator overseeing assigned groups of service users, providing screening; asset mapping; comprehensive assessments; recovery planning (using motivational interviewing techniques) and reviews of care
  • Be the broker for these interventions and may also be required to deliver some of them as directed by the Team Leader
  • Coordinate a tailor-made package of care including recognised psycho-social interventions; 1 to1 key work, POD, and group work; clinical interventions; harm minimisation and brief interventions
  • Be the broker for these interventions and may also be required to deliver some of them as directed by the Team Leader
  • Support the development of service-based recovery communities
  • Further develop CGL’s links with local recovery groups / mutual aid groups
  • Ensure the timely and accurate collection, recording and reporting of specified data
  • Assess suitability for groups in terms of risk and special needs
  • Carry out risk assessments and risk management plans
  • Triage assessment and onward referral to a range of treatment/community support agencies
  • Work with clinicians to support prescribing regimes to improve social functioning
  • Ensure that all aspects of confidentiality are adhered to and that consent to share information is a key element to building trusting therapeutic alliances
  • Help individuals to develop recovery resources and access peer and mutual support groups to develop their own recovery capital
  • Work and liaise with other agencies involved with the service user’s broader care plan including health services, hospitals, and GPs
  • Support the smooth running of the service by contributing to tasks such as reception and duty cover, and clinical duties on an ad hoc basis
  • Manage the 24/7 Single Point of Contact (SPOC) helpline on a rota basis
  • Provide health education especially in regard to harm minimisation, blood borne viruses and overdose prevention
  • Assist and carry out appropriate screening processes including, audit, DBST, urine and saliva tests, after completion of appropriate training or demonstration of relevant experience
  • Carry out key harm reduction strategies as directed by your Team Leader
  • Work flexibly across operational sites as required
  • Work flexibly within an agreed number of hours of work to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision
  • Seek to improve personal performance, contribution, knowledge and skills
  • Participate in appraisal, training and supervision processes
  • Keep abreast of developments in services, legislation and practice relevant to the relevant client group
  • Ensure the implementation of all CGL policies
  • Contribute to maintaining safe systems of work and a safe environment
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post

Requirements of the Recovery Worker:

  • Relevant qualification
  • Active NMC Registration
  • Previous substance misuse experience
  • Be creative and innovative so that the post best meets the needs of the service user, promoting access into treatment, and continued engagement with underrepresented communities
