Sanctuary Criminal Justice has a permanent vacancy for an experienced and dedicated Substance Misuse Lead Nurse to fill a full-time role in Walsall. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of substance misuse nursing and be registered with the NMC.
The salary for this Lead Nurse role is £38,000 per annum.
Main Duties:
- Assure that integrated pathways in place for service users who require treatment for their health needs to their addiction.
- Ensure that the services clinical model is functioning, effective and in line with CGL policy and national guidance.
- Implement / maintain an immunisation and vaccination scheme to help combat blood borne virus and other infectious diseases and provide advice and information to other professionals on BBV and the care of individuals with drug and alcohol issues.
- To ensure all programmes, i.e. immunisation programmes, are adequately staffed to that contractual requirements may always be met.
- Work in partnership with stakeholders and promote CGL clinical to commissioners and health and wellbeing board alongside the Services Manager.
- To be involved in clinical audit of the service under the direction of the Deputy Director of Nursing.
- Contribute to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved.
- To ensure that all clinical services are delivered to a high standard in line with national guidance, CGL policies, procedures and best practice and in line with CQC essential standard.
Requirements of the Lead Nurse:
- Degree or equivalent in mental health nursing
- Current NMC registration (RGN/RMN)
- Significant experience as a substance misuse nurse
- Extensive knowledge and experience of substance misuse
- Experience of drug/alcohol detox, ideally within an inpatient/residential setting
