About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and professional healthcare team. You’ll play a key role in supervising and developing both qualified and unqualified nursing staff, ensuring high standards of patient care. As an Orthopaedic Staff Nurse, you’ll act as a mentor, role model, and clinical supervisor, contributing to the professional growth of your team while delivering high-quality care to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care programmes for patients.
- Deliver care in line with the ward’s philosophy and organisational policies.
- Regularly coordinate ward activities and oversee the performance of nursing staff.
- Support newly appointed staff through orientation, induction, and ongoing supervision.
- Act as a clinical supervisor and mentor, helping to develop skills and competencies within the team.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in line with professional standards.
- Ensure the highest levels of care by adhering to evidence-based practices.
- Take part in regular appraisals and performance reviews to support personal and professional growth.
- Actively participate in training and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Active first-level NMC registration.
- Experience in multidisciplinary teamwork, including effective communication with service users, carers, and colleagues.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks independently.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
- Proficiency in administering intravenous medications.
- A comprehensive portfolio aligned with Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) criteria.
- A professional, ethical approach to patient care, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
