Sanctuary Health has a permanent vacancy for an experienced and dedicated Band 5 Staff Nurse to fill a full-time role within a Day Patient & Endoscopy Unit based in Guernsey. The ideal candidates will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Nursing and be registered with the NMC.

The salary for this permanent Staff Nurse job is £29,110 - £37,676 per annum.

Summary:

  • The overall purpose of this role is to practice clinically as a member of the nursing and multi-professional team within the Day Patient Unit. This involves contributing to the evaluation of effectiveness of planning and delivery of services and to be proactive in maintaining quality, service improvement, and patient flow in a safe and comfortable environment.
  • The Day Patient Unit relies on the multi-skilled nature of the team and whilst previous experience would be an asset, this role is also developmental so offers opportunity to gain knowledge and skills to provide assistance in, for example, the minor operations/procedures room and endoscopy suite. Pre Assessment also forms part of the Ward responsibilities.
  • All staff within the Day Patient Unit are expected to rotate to other areas of the department when service requirements dictate, within the limitations of knowledge and skills.

Main Duties:

  • As postholder of this role you will adhere to the NMC Code (2015) at all times.
  • Demonstrate safe clinical care of patients undergoing procedures.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs ensuring patient involvement and coordinate care delivery.
  • Collate and interpret clinical information regarding patient condition, report change and respond as appropriate.
  • Ensure storage, checking and administration of medications is performed in accordance with HSC policy and NMC standards.
  • Act as a resource of accurate information and advice to the multi-disciplinary team, patients and significant others within limitations of knowledge.
  • Ensure patients and significant others are accurately updated using easily understandable communication methods.
  • Support the maintenance of evidence based practice using clinical guidelines, national and local protocols.
  • Support audit of care within the unit in conjunction with the senior nurses and department manager.

Requirements of the Staff Nurse:

  • Degree or equivalent within Nursing
  • NMC registration and a valid live pin
  • Must have recent UK Nursing experience
