Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company within the private and public sector has a locum role for a Band 6/7 Speech and Language Therapist to work full-time based in Westminster, within the Paediatrics Dysphagia Team.

The pay rate for this locum Speech and Language Therapist job is £27 - £32 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an ongoing contract.

Duties:

  • Contribute to dysphagia element of EHCNA, annual reviews and delivery of EHCP requirements as required

Requirements of the Speech and Language Therapist:

  • HCPC registered as a Therapist
  • Be an independent dysphagia practitioner (e.g. level C or above of previous RCSLT competencies, level 5 or above of new framework)
  • Experience/skills in relation to the following is essential: Independent assessment of eating, drinking and swallowing skills of children and young people (up to 19 years) with complex needs including a combination of learning difficulties, sensory difficulties and complex medical conditions
  • Ability to devise and document management plans in order to manage risk associated with identified dysphagia
  • Knowledge of the wider MDT team and who to make onward referrals to
  • Ability to provide training in dysphagia awareness and dysphagia care plans to parents, school staff and families, some of whom may need information to be modified to support their understanding
  • Excellent record keeping and report writing skills
  • System 1 trained, NHS smart card access preferable
