Sanctuary Personnel, a committed and competitive recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to work full-time based in St Neots.

The salary for this permanent Speech and Language Therapist job is £32,000 - £34,000 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team at Thornford Park, a 130 bedded independent hospital that supports service users that require medium and low secure Forensic Mental Health Services. In addition, there is also a PICU Mental Health Service.
  • Provide specialist speech and language therapy assessments, interventions, treatments and differential diagnosis for men with ASD and/or Learning Disability within a secure forensic service.
  • Manage a complex caseload and build one-to-one rapports as you negotiate and plan goals with service users, families and the wider team to increase service users' engagement in their treatment plans. 
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge in the areas of acquired communication and swallowing disorders as you will provide training and supervision to junior members of the team. This includes devising and monitoring intervention programmes. 
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth. 
  • Be involved in undertaking audits and contributing to research in the provision of treatment, to service users with communication and other disorders
  • Adapt assessment and intervention techniques to the needs of the individual on an ongoing basis, including the use of augmentative and alternative communication systems
  • Audit the clinical effectiveness of interventions specific to own caseload, applying the principles of Evidenced-Based Practice and outcome measures
  • Develop resources to meet patient requirements and for departmental use

Requirements of the Speech and Language Therapist:

  • To be registered with HCPC
  • Experience in managing a caseload involving assessment and treatment of dysphagia
  • Experience of working with families
  • Evidence of continuing Professional Development
