Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company within the private and public sector has a locum role for a Band 7/8a Sonographer to work full-time based in Castel, within the Radiology Department.

The pay rate for this locum Sonographer job is £50 - £55 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 12-month contract.

This role includes a broad expectation to sacrifice breaks, lunches and stay beyond the normal working hours when needed.

Duties:

  • Work as an independent reporting sonographer performing exams to a very high standard, formulating stand-alone, concise and accurate reports
  • Communicating highly complex/sensitive/contentious results to the appropriate clinician(s) and also to patients directly
  • Tailoring the gained scan information to the appropriate level of the recipient in a clear and accurate method often needing a high degree of empathy

  • Independently prioritise clinical workload and organise such from a variety of referral pathways to meet the needs of the service user
  • Follow policies, procedures and protocols relating to and underpinning the ultrasound service in line with guidance from Royal College of Radiologists and College of Radiographers
  • Rotate to the neighbouring island to run an independent ultrasound service - this out of hospital work will involve solitary working conditions with no immediate radiological support/guidance
  • Independently undertake and report all examinations that you are competent in, for example obstetric scanning including first trimester screening, dating scans with Nuchal Translucency accreditation, anomaly and high risk obstetric scans, abdominal, small parts, renal, gynaecological, transvaginal, paediatric, neonatal hips, neonatal heads, DVT’s and preferably also carotid Doppler examination
  • Up-dating and expanding own ultrasound skills and maintenance of CPD
  • Participate in the governance of the department in areas including Risk management, health and safety, research and audit activities
  • Work as part of a team providing a high quality ultrasound service within the H.S.S.D
  • Educate, train and mentor other healthcare professionals/radiographers/student sonographers to successfully complete a master’s level post graduate diploma in Medical Ultrasound
