Sanctuary Social Care currently has a permanent vacancy for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to work within a Children with Disabilities Team based in Yate, Gloucestershire. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Social Work Practice in Children's Services and be registered with the HCPC.

As the post holder of this role, you will receive a competitive salary of £28,785 - £34,788 per annum.

About the role:

  • As a Social Worker or Advanced Social Worker working in a busy office the post holder will be part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team working to implement the SEND agenda for children and young people across South Gloucestershire. Social workers have a varied caseload of disabled children who are Children in Need (CIN), Looked after children (LAC) and Children in Need of protection (CP).

  • The 0-25 Disability Service exists to improve outcomes and make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people with SEND, and their families, who require support as well as young adults who have eligible education & training, health and social care needs.

  • You will work with other Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Special Educational Needs (SEN) practitioners and will have a case load of children and young people between ages of 0-18. The post holder will be responsible for assessing need and producing Care plans for children and young people in conjunction with their families and other professionals. You will be managed and supervised by a 0-25 Team Manager with significant experience.

Requirements of the Social Worker:

  • You will hold a professional qualification in social work or equivalent (eg DipSW, CQSW, CSS or NVQ 4). Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC).

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, processes and procedures for disabled children, children in need and safeguarding.

  • Post qualification experience of working in a statutory Local Authority children's services setting.

  • Excellent Assessment and Analytical Skills.

  • Evidence of on-going continuous professional development.

  • Full clean drivers licence and access to a car to travel to a range of locations including home visits.

  • Evidence of a good level of general IT skills and the ability to use, or be trained in the use of, appropriate specialist in-house software packages.

  • Effective interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills, including handling difficult and sensitive issues.
