Sanctuary Social Care is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to work full-time in Derby City, within the Safeguarding Team. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Social Worker job is £29.77 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Duties of the Social Worker:

  • Carry out child-focused assessments of need, including investigations of suspected child abuse, working jointly with colleagues from the Department, and from other Agencies where appropriate.
  • Develop appropriate service plans with associated procedures based upon assessed needs and eligibility criteria.
  • Ensure the delivery of appropriate services to children and their families according to their assessed needs and service plan. This will include the rigorous implementation of eligibility criteria and acting as Key Worker with children in need including those who are subject to Child Protection plans, as well as who are 'Looked After' by the Council. It is also likely to include giving evidence in Court Proceedings, and the provision of a range of Reports.
  • Work consistently within the parameters of the law, departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Attend conferences, reviews, core groups and planning meetings, as appropriate. 6. Make case planning decisions which are consistent with the responsibilities and grading of the post.
  • Contribute to the development of the team's Business Plan in conjunction with the Service Manager.
  • Work towards the achievement of national and local performance management indicators.
  • Maintain accurate and effective recording of information and action taken, as defined and specified by City Council policy and procedure.
  • Work as a team member attending team meetings and making an active contribution to the development of service delivery through the sharing of knowledge, information and skills.
  • Actively participate in consultations and regular individual supervision with the Team Manager, as required by the Departmental Supervision Policy.

Requirements of the Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within Children's Services
