Social worker - Referral & Assessment Team

Location Kent

Sanctuary Social Care is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to work full-time in Bexley, within the Referral and Assessment Team. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Social Worker job is £32 - £35 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 3-month contract.

This team will focus on skilled, immediate investigation of referrals to ascertain what level of ongoing social care service is likely to be needed, for example quick resolution, diversion or prevention services or ongoing need for social care.

It is proposed that the duration of involvement of the Referral and Assessment Team is limited to eight weeks or until the completion of assessment for ongoing services have been determined, in order to ensure that the child will be put in touch with the relevant agency or service who will meet their needs as soon as possible.

This means the more complex ongoing assessment of need will be conducted by longer term teams/staff. This will reduce duplication from re-assessment by a social worker in another team on being referred for services and facilitate the building of a relationship between the social worker and family as soon as possible to reduce any drift that exists in the current model

Duties:

  • To deal with referrals to social care for vulnerable children and safeguarding from the MASH.
  • To protect children by assessing the level of risk and need of referred children and determine the appropriate response before handing on to a longer-term team or other service responsible for case management.

Requirements of the Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within Children's Services
