Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company to the private and public sector has a locum vacancy for a Social Worker to work full time based in Worthing, within the Older Peoples' Mental Health Team.

The pay rate for this locum Social Worker is up to £32 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 1-month contract.

Main Duties:

  • Be responsible for eligible older people, adults with physical disabilities and acquired brain injury across the Shoreham, Worthing and Littlehampton area.
  • Provide an accountable statutory social work service to those people who access or need the service to include assessment, planning and review.
  • Lead on complex casework and work within a specialist area providing expertise and guidance to colleagues.

Requirements of the Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within Adults' Services
  • Completion of HCPC Post Qualifying Award (full award) or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in working with people with mental health issues.
  • Have good, up-to-date working knowledge of legislation relevant to the specialist area of the post e.g. National Assistance Act, NHS and Community Care Act, Carers Recognition Act.
  • Have a breadth of understanding of the therapeutic interventions that can be used and an excellent understanding of the partnership agencies including health, housing, learning, statutory, voluntary and independent sector.
  • Full, valid driving licence and must be prepared to travel around the area doing visits. 
  • Evidence of good assessment skills, including the ability to ensure regular reviews and risk management with a variety of individuals, carers or families.
  • Evidence of effectively prioritising work and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience of effective partnership working with those who access or need the service and maintaining a focus on the needs of the individual whilst handling conflict and disagreement.
  • Experience of forming effective working relationships within a multi-agency/ multidisciplinary setting.
  • Evidence of working with those who access or need the service to identify issues and identify specific action by means of creative and pragmatic solutions. Experience of managing levels of risk within a caseload of complex cases.
