Sanctuary Social Care is looking for an experienced and dedicated Local Authority Designated Officer to work part-time in Slough. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Social Work Practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The Salary for this permanent Local Authority Designated Officer job is £46,808 - £51,817 per annum

Summary:

  • Be able to provide the LADO role to both in house and external partners. This includes providing advice and guidance to employers and voluntary organisations, liaising with police and other agencies, and chairing Allegations against Staff and Volunteers Meetings (ASV's).
  • Provide regular reporting to the Executive Leadership Team within the Trust and to submit an annual accountability report to the Safeguarding Partnership Board on allegations dealt with during the year.
  • Monitor the progress of cases to ensure that they are dealt with as quickly as possible, and are consistent with a fair and thorough process; to review cases as necessary and to collate data and information and provide reports as necessary.
  • Maintain effective communication with all partners to ensure safeguarding responsibilities in relation to safer recruitment and safer workforce practices are clear and understood.
  • To take action where it is clear from Allegations against Staff and Volunteer Meetings (ASV's) that safeguarding responsibilities in relation to safer recruitment and safer workforce are not being followed.
  • Be able to monitor and audit compliance with legislation and statutory guidance with regard to safeguarding children and to challenge poor practice.
  • Contribute to the work of the Slough Safeguarding Partnership Board and its subgroups, developing and implementing single agency procedures and practice guidance in relation to managing allegations. Be able to develop and deliver Managing Allegation Training within the Trust and to partners as appropriate.
  • Able to ensure effective liaison with external regulatory bodies in relation to complex allegations that may result in disciplinary or legal action and make appropriate referrals to professional standard bodies as appropriate.
  • Implement the Trust's equal opportunities policies and work actively to overcome discrimination on the grounds of race, disability, sexuality or status in the Council's services.
  • Contribute to the Trust regular audit programme through completion or moderation of audits.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate to the grade of the post.

Requirements of the Local Authority Designated Officer:

  • Have experience of working at a senior level within statutory children's services.
  • Proven track record of working positively with a range of partner organisations.
  • Experience of chairing complex multi-agency meetings.
  • Have experience in writing and presenting reports to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience of managing conflict and able to demonstrate solution focused practice.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of children's services statutory duties, responsibilities and policy requirements.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the LADO.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018.
  • Have knowledge of key child protection policies and procedures.
  • Good understanding of the range of partner agencies working with children and young people.
  • The ability to interface effectively with Ofsted, Social Work England and other regulatory/professional bodies.
  • Ability to effectively challenge practitioners/managers in agencies where appropriate.
  • Have the ability to use ICT effectively to record data and information and to aggregate data into reports as appropriate.
  • Have the ability to work effectively in partnership with other agencies.
  • A degree in Social Work
  • Be SW England registered.
  • Have evidence of continued professional development.
