Sanctuary Social Care is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to work full-time in Barking and Dagenham, within the Leaving Care Team. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in children's services and be registered with the HCPC.


The pay rate for this locum Social Worker job is £32.00 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) and is an initial 3-month contract.


Duties of the Social Worker:

  • Expected to maintain professional standards of practice and to work in accordance with the Departmental vision, values, strategic objectives, procedures and managerial guidance
  • To ensure that services are efficiently and effectively provided, liaising as necessary with other divisions, Council Departments, N.H.S. trusts, schools, carers, voluntary and independent sector providers
  • Formulating and updating child protection plans, with appropriate guidance from the Team Manager
  • Providing reports to Child Protection Conferences
  • Making use of the legal framework including both criminal law and the Children Act in order to protect children. This may include giving evidence in court
  • To make recommendations to the Group Manager/ Team Manager (or other budget holder as appropriate) regarding financial expenditure entailed in care plans and undertake delegated financial responsibilities
  • Comply with the competencies and standard requisites agreed by the Council as relevant to your post


Requirements of the Social Worker:

Degree or equivalent in social work
Current HCPC registration
Significant senior level frontline experience within children's services
