Sanctuary Social Care is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to work full-time within a Children's Safeguarding Team based in Medway. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Social Worker job is £37.50 per hour (Assignment rate) and this role is offering an initial 3-month contract.

Purpose of the Job:

  • To safeguard vulnerable children and support them to achieve their full potential, living within their family if safe to do so.
  • To provide a high quality and effective professional casework service, taking responsibility for working and managing a caseload within a framework of appropriate supervision, dependent upon the complexities of these cases and the social worker's experience.
  • To comply with legislation, statutory guidance and local policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • To ensure that all vulnerable children in need and children in care on their caseload receive a service that reflects the Department's commitment to safeguarding and putting the needs of individual children first.
  • To work directly with children and young people to establish their wishes and feelings, using a variety of techniques, as required.
  • To maintain accurate and up to date records in line with Data Protection legislation and use the Children's Recording System to promote effective case management.
  • To keep up to date with research findings, theoretical models and innovative practice within the social work field.
  • To be competent in all areas of the Professional Capabilities framework for Social Workers.

Requirements of the Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work.
  • Current Social Work England registration.
  • 2+ years of post qualifying experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Working towards PEPS Stage 1 or willingness to undertake.
  • Demonstrable post qualification experience of working with children and families (2/3 years).
  • Demonstrates strong assessment skills and analysis of relevant information and develops multi agency plans to improve outcomes for children and young people using evidence based practice.
