Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency is currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Social Work Senior Practitioner to work based in St Martins, Guernsey, within the Looked After Children Team.

The salary for this permanent Social Work Senior Practitioner role is £56,166 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • To have specific responsibility for ensuring those children and young people who are subject to interim care proceedings, care requirements or in the voluntary care of the States of Guernsey, including children placed out of the jurisdiction, receive statutory Social Work Services.
  • Ensure their health, educational, social and emotional needs are met through effective working with parents, carers, colleagues, and other agencies, ensuring the child is central to all planning.
  • To ensure children in care and those subject to care requirements have clear plans which are progressed within agreed timescales.
  • To ensure risk is assessed in accordance with multi-agency Child Protection Guidelines and Procedures when rehabilitating children to their families.
  • To ensure children’s holistic needs are being met by effective working with parents, carers, colleagues, and other agencies.
  • To prepare high quality reports for meetings, reviews, and panels.
  • To collect statistical information regarding children in care and those subject to care requirements and contribute to the compilation of team reports.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be determined by the Director of Communities.

Requirements of the Social Work Senior Practitioner:

  • Professional Social Work qualification - CQSW, Dip SW, Social Work Degree or equivalent.
  • Registered with the GSSC.
  • Minimum of three years post qualification experience working with children and families.
  • A thorough knowledge of The Children’s Law 2008, particularly in relation to looked after children, and policies and procedures.
  • Experience and skills in working with children who have experienced trauma, separation and loss, and uncertainty.
  • Experience of assessing and care planning.
