Sanctuary Personnel, a committed and competitive recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Work Residential Registered Manager to work full-time based in London.

The salary for this permanent Residential Registered Manager job is £36,000 - £45,000 per annum.

Duties:

  • Be the Ofsted Registered Manager for Holly Lodge by providing effective leadership and management, and act on behalf of the Sankofa Care to ensure that the Home meet relevant requirements set out in legislation
  • Ensure the highest standard of consistent care and service in accordance with legislation, central government guidance, regulations and standards, and the policies and procedures of Sankofa Care
  • Provide a lead in the decisions and management of placements within the Residential and Outreach provisions, and to liaise with partners in formulating jointly agreed plans, to ensure a coordinated approach to services for children and young people
  • Responsible for contributing to achieving the overall objectives of Sankofa Care Services by supervising Deputy manager and Team leaders/Senior to deliver a well-managed and supported care services which meets best practice and exceeds set target
  • Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 (amended 2018) and National Minimum Standards, including the monitoring of Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 inspections; and other relevant legislation and best practice
  • Ensure the Home is fully prepared and ready for regular Ofsted inspections in line with Ofsted Inspection Framework
  • Ensure that Sankofa Care works within Every Child Matters framework
  • Provide a secure, safe, healthy, happy, and caring environment for all children and young people using Sankofa Care services
  • Work individually and collectively to promote a constructive, fair, and sensitive approach to working with others form a variety of cultures and backgrounds and ensure that Sankofa Care staff and volunteers carry out their tasks within the terms and intentions of Sankofa Care Equal Opportunities policy
  • Achieve a culture of positive and effective professionalism with all members of the SMT of Sankofa Care demonstrating a pro-active, flexible approach and respect and support for the different roles within the team
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive working environment for staff
  • Support the Directors and Responsible Individual to ensure that a therapeutic environment is developed and maintained within the Sankofa Care services, by striving for continuous improvements in the care offered
  • Work to provide innovative individual solutions for each child
  • Provide high quality management, support and monitoring of Staff enabling them to effectively manage, supervise, develop, and support their services and teams
  • Ensure smooth effective and efficient running of the Home, and in consultation with specifically Care staff and managers, to develop a Sankofa Homes’ Safety Plan, including working towards a Quality Assurance programme in the longer term
  • In consultation with the relevant SMT managers and staff develop policy and procedures in the relevant areas including but not limited to; recruitment, induction, training, Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Child Protection, incident and accident management, record keeping
  • Ensure Care staffs are aware of, familiar with and work within all Sankofa Care policies and procedures
  • Co-ordinate and develop monitoring of the relevant areas including but not limited to staff performance, service provision and demand, daily practice, resources, housekeeping, record keeping, and the monitoring requirements

Requirements of the Residential Registered Manager:

  • Recognised and accredited social work qualification or in Health, Psychology, and Health and Social Care Level 4 and above
  • Management qualification e.g., NVQ 5 in Leadership
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Experience working within children’s services
  • Be able to meet the challenges of service provision in the context of statutory sector undergoing fluctuating funding and regulatory structure
  • Be competent in all areas of childcare including risks posed by working with children and young people with specific additional needs
  • Be effective in conflict resolution – helping to resolve issues with staff at all levels using appropriate interpersonal skills and management styles suitable to the organisation/staff
  • Demonstrate an understanding of staff at all levels e.g., support reaction to organisational changes
  • Be aware of current developments and have a good working knowledge of current legislative and other national guidelines, including continuous review of service provision, effective time management and regular liaison with each project manager, full compliance with national standards for children’s care, working flexibly as required
  • Be aware of, and adhere to, all policies on recruitment/selection, induction, and training – liaising with all necessary staff
  • Be aware of the need for confidentiality in dealing with staffing information when confidentiality should be preserved and the circumstances when it is right to reveal confidential information and to whom it is right to do so
  • Ability to satisfy Ofsted as a Registered Manager
  • Proven staff management experience and leadership skills including, supervision, monitoring and disciplinary
  • Proven knowledge of Ofsted, National Minimum Standards for Residential Care Services Regulations
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills
  • Ability to run the day-to-day practice and business aspects of the Residential Care Services
  • Strong leadership skills to implement the vision and strategy of the agency
  • Ability to review and monitor outcomes and make sound and safe decisions in all aspects of running the agency
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as own initiative with consistent self-motivator
  • A high level of applied literacy and numeracy
  • An ability to maintain judgement when working under pressure
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritise workload
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels both orally and in writing
  • Ability to provide reports on a monthly/yearly basis
  • Ability to liaise and negotiate on a business level
