Sanctuary Personnel, an award-winning and renowned Recruitment Agency is looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Work Practice Leader to fill a full-time role based in Southend on Sea.

The salary for this permanent Practice Leader job is £45,000 per annum.

The successful candidate may be needed to work outside the core hours and on occasion’s weekends.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of complex and difficult cases involving assessment, planning and implementation and evaluation of appropriate action to ensure resources are utilised effectively to safeguard and promote the welfare of Service Users
  • Provide a high quality resource of professional social work knowledge and expertise to the team, including supervision, meetings, assisted fieldwork, case audits and reviews, ensuring team members carry out their core tasks to a high standard
  • Deputise in the absence of the Service Manager
  • Work in partnership with Service Users to enable them to live as independently as possible within their community
  • Contribute to raising and maintaining standards of professional work within the team
  • Supporting and further professional knowledge and development of team members to impact on the overall quality of practice within teams
  • Implement the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 whilst undertaking Mental Capacity Assessments
  • Undertake Continuing Health Care Assessments and Safeguarding investigations in line with National and Local Guidance
  • Develop and deliver effective services integrated with health which ensures the promotion of the best interests of the Service Users and their carers to enable more people to live as independently as possible whilst ensuring that the risk is minimised as far as possible for all parties
  • Responsible for ensuring assessments are accurate and any funding applied for is FACS eligible and realistic
  • Manage a caseload of complex and difficult cases ( including Safeguarding referrals), involving assessment, planning and implementation and evaluation of appropriate action to ensure resources are utilised effectively to safeguard and promote the welfare of service users
  • Communicate a clear sense of purpose and direction to the locality team in order to motivate and develop staff and providing a role model for Best Practice
  • Leading by example that the social work team vision is reflected in work practices across Southend

Requirements of the Practice Leader:

  • CSS/ CQSW/ DipSW/ Social Work Degree/ Masters, or equivalent qualification validated by the General Social Care Council (GSCC) and/ or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • GSCC/ HPC Registration and commitment to re-registration every 3 years (GSCC) and 2 years (HCPC)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development in line with the forthcoming Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) and appropriate to current career stage
  • Experienced Social Worker
  • Advanced Practitioner
  • Practice Educator PQSW/ PQ Specialist Award or higher
  • Best Interest Assessor (DOLS)
  • Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)
  • Practice Education qualification that meets Stage 2 of the Professional Standards for Practice Educators (PEPS)
  • European Computer Driving License (ECDL)
  • Knowledge: NHS and Community Care Act. Carers Act(s)/Mental Health Act. Mental Capacity Act/Other Community Care Law/Children Act/Every Child Matters/Continuing Healthcare/Putting People First/Supporting People Programme/In-Control Programme
  • Knowledge around Fair Access to Care
  • Experience of Assessment, Care Management and Supporting People to take risks safely
  • Specific knowledge of different Adult Client groups
  • People Management skills and the ability to motivate, supervise and support staff to consistently achieve and exceed personal and team objectives
  • Commitment to Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of working in a Multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to analyse, conceptualise and implement change
  • Up to date knowledge of the issues facing adult social care and commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Understanding of Advocacy and User involvement issues
  • Capacity to work in stressful situations
