Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a job based in Lewisham for a Social Work Operational Manager to work within the Learning Disability/Transition Team.
The pay rate for this locum Operational Manager job is £43 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 1-month contract.

Duties:

  • Line manage two seniors and possibly 3 project Social Workers
  • Undertake face to face visits with Social Workers
  • Manage and supervise the Adult Social Care staff attached to section, to lead and coordinate the relevant referrals and Ensure Lewisham meets all its statutory duties
  • Ensure that all relevant procedures are adhered to where appropriate
  • Work in partnership to deliver specialist advice and professional consultation on all relevant matters, to partner agencies with an involvement
  • Provide monitoring and regular data on performance
  • Ensure timescales are met and case work is compliant with Quality Assurance Standards
  • Promote a strength based approach to case work in accordance with best practice guidance
  • Deliver integrated systems and ways of working that ensure the best use of resources
  • Supervision of staff
  • Work within a performance management framework, using performance management information to improve service delivery
  • Offer professional supervision to social work staff on a regular basis, to be recorded and in line with the department’s supervision policy
  • Ensure that supervised staff are offered personal appraisals in line with Council Policy and are appropriately directed to training and CPD opportunities
  • Ensure that supervised staff are monitored in terms of their performance and conduct with any concerns being reported to the Service Manager for advice on how to proceed
  • Audit and review electronic case records on a regular basis to ensure practice standards are met/exceeded
  • Take remedial action as necessary
  • Working as directed by the Service Manager and respond as required to complaints regarding the service
  • Ensure adherence to legislation, guidance, procedure and policy – both in relation to the safety of vulnerable adults (and children where relevant) and As an employee of the council
  • Ensure services are delivered in accordance with the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policies
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the post
  • Maintain and update own technical knowledge and continuous professional development e.g. lead for specific area of practice across services
  • Deputise for the manager as required
  • Maintain registration with the HCPC Adhere to both the Council’s Code of Conduct and the HCPC Code of Practice at all times
  • Work closely and flexibly with other Operational Managers both within the unit and across the division to build inter-team and unit relationships
  • Work in units across the division as required to provide effective management of Adult’s services
  • Operate financial and other resource management systems as required to ensure budgets are effectively and rigorously managed in accordance with Council Financial Regulations
  • Ensure financial decisions are in the best interests of both the client and the council to ensure best value and tight budget management
  • Undertake complex case work when required
  • Decision Making
  • Allocation prioritisation and mix of resources
  • Expenditure for service provision within budgetary authority
  • Placement decisions within budgetary and other delegated authority
  • Authorisation of assessment staff recommendations/case decision making
  • Recruitment Performance management issues e.g. disciplinary/capability

Requirements of the Operational Manager:

  • A recognised and relevant professional social work qualification (Degree / Diploma in Social Work)
  • Registered on Social Work England
  • Experienced Operational Manager
  • Be mindful of the need, to take a strength based approach to case work
