Sanctuary Personnel, an award-winning and renowned Recruitment Agency is looking for experienced and dedicated Social Work Child Protection Chairs to work part time or full-time based in Herefordshire.

The pay rates for these locum Child Protection Chair jobs are £43 per hour (Assignment rate) and are initial 3-month contracts.

Conferences are currently held remotely with a plan to be held face to face in the near future. Herefordshire practice model is Signs of Safety.

Duties:

  • Chair child protection conferences in line with the requirements described in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018) and the Herefordshire Child Protection Procedures
  • Lead complex multi-agency child protection meetings and will monitor the quality and effectiveness of social work practice by scrutinising child protection plans and constructively challenging actions and interventions that are not delivering the required outcomes for children and young people
  • Promote understanding of the CPC process, ensuring that social workers, practitioners and family members understand the purpose of child protection conferences and how they are conducted
  • Chair complex CPC, consider the evidence presented, make judgements about the likelihood of a child suffering significant harm in future, and whether the child is at continuing risk of harm
  • Ensure that the conference systematically shares information and elicits and records the views of each agency represented and the views of the parent(s) and child; ensure that the decision-making process takes account of the views of all the agencies represented
  • Ensure that children and young people are encouraged and supported to make a meaningful contribution to their conference where appropriate, and ensure that the voice of the child is actively promoted and their wishes and feelings are fully considered in the conference and any resulting child protection plan
  • Decide whether the child considered at a CPC will be made subject to a child protection plan, taking into account the views of the professional network represented at the conference; determine and record which category of abuse or neglect the child considered at the conference has primarily suffered or is primarily likely to suffer
  • Produce complete and correct written records of discussion, decisions and plans made at a CPC (including any dissent), and ensure the record is distributed within agreed timescales

Requirements of the Child Protection Chairs:

  • Educated to a degree level with a relevant professional qualification in Social Work
  • Active Social Work England registration and proven evidence of continuing professional
  • Experience of keeping and maintaining records (in accordance with local policy) and producing accurate reports, presentations, and written updates to a range of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to effectively use data, intelligence and evidence to create meaningful insight and to inform our own decision making
  • Knowledge of statutory legislation (for example Children’s Act) and national policy drivers that will affect children’s services and your role
  • Experience of addressing specific equality or diversity issues within your practice
  • Understanding and experience in using Signs of Safety Model to chair conferences
  • Able to use a range of digital hardware or software to support your work effectively
  • Strong organisational abilities including time management, problem-solving and multitasking
  • Able to work flexibly and independently
  • Personal determination, drive, energy and ambition to achieve challenging objectives, celebrate success and deliver excellent outcomes for children using a strength-based approach
  • Commitment to resource-sharing and collaborative working within Achieving for Children and across organisational boundaries in the best interests of children and families
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills that are open, honest, persuasive and pragmatic, you will be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the role
